Montezuma, Costa Rica

'Pura Vida'

March 23 - 30, 2024 (Fully Booked)

"I had an amazing spiritual, physical, and emotional experience. It was life changing!"

Costa Rica 2024

A wholehearted, indulgent experience of the Body, Mind & Soul

Welcome to the coastal jungle of Montezuma, Costa Rica, located on the southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula. This picturesque paradise is a haven of natural beauty with its white-sand beaches and lush rainforest set within a laid-back, bohemian vibe. For many years it's been a sanctuary for wellness and healing, and has even received the distinction as one of the world's Blue Zones: where people live the longest, often to 100, with a high quality of life!

What does Pura Vida mean? Relaxing on the beach while listening to the howler monkeys frolic in the jungle behind you? Enjoying a restorative body treatment by the skilled body workers followed by a healing sound bath? Spending the day on a boat traveling along the scenic Pacific shore while dolphins playfully follow alongside, taking a break to snorkel, then satiating your appetite with an abundant locally sourced lunch on a small island? Having your emotional health cared for by experienced healers? Having all of the details of the retreat taken care of so you can just relax and enjoy? Then you're ready for some Pura Vida!

The Ultimate Wellness Experience

Innately we all know that spending time outdoors in nature is good for us, and now an ever expanding body of research has confirmed that exposure to the natural world has incredible benefits for our health and wellbeing. Submerging ourselves in nature is a proven antidote for stress: It lowers our blood pressure, stress hormones and anxiety levels, decreases nervous system arousal, enhances the function of our immune systems, boosts self-esteem and improves our mood drastically. What's more, when we’re in nature - even when we’re alone - feeling of loneliness are proven to diminish. The benefits that nature brings are so far reaching that scientists are even trying to systematize its phenomenal impact on the less tangible parts of our lives, such as our relationships, our values, and our religious and spiritual connections.

Nature comes in all shapes and sizes, but none quite as extraordinary as the Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica. Of all the Blue Zones, Nicoya is known for being the happiest. Here, you can forget what you think you know about forest bathing; the glorious clean air of the rainforest, paired with the immunity boosting and antioxidant effects of an environment rich in phytoncides is incomparable to the rest of our planet.

On this Montezuma Retreat, as well as your experience of Epona Retreat's signature emotional healthcare,  you'll have opportunities to participate in many wellness boosting activities including yoga, meditation, holotropic breath work with Reiki, heart coherence, cold plunges, ceremonies to connect to nature, and so much more!  All in the midst of this wild paradise! You’ll experience complete immersion into this breathtaking natural environment and experience every benefit that nature has to offer.  The impact on your body and mind will be both immediate and lasting, leaving you feeling restored and ready to embrace a healthier and happier ‘Pura Vida’ back at home.
